  • Dolphins EDGE Shaquil Barrett informed the team of his decision to retire this past weekend, despite joining the team in March.

  • Barrett cited a desire to spend more time with his family in an explanation on his Instagram.

Buzz

  • Steelers OC Arthur Smith was not interested in joining the Jets in a senior offensive role because of how vaguely the role was defined with current OC Nathaniel Hackett set to remain on staff. Hackett will return and says he’s expecting much better things in Year 2 of his system. (NFLTR)

  • Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones told Dianna Russini and Chase Daniel with The Athletic that Dallas hopes to pull a Houdini to keep all three of Dak Prescott, Ceedee Lamb and Micah Parsons. (NFLTR)

  • Washington’s defensive coaches have been talking up how hard former first-round CB Emmanuel Forbes is working, notable given Forbes’ struggles as a rookie and the exit of the regime that drafted him. (NFLTR)

  • Browns G Wyatt Teller says he sees glimpses of the old Deshaun Watson. (NFLTR)

  • Bears HC Matt Eberflus hyped up first-round WR Rome Odunze, while GM Ryan Poles weighed in on expectations for Caleb Williams to just lean on the talent they have around him and not have to carry the team. (NFLTR)

  • Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson says rehab is going well and is on schedule. (NFLTR)

  • Panthers LB Shaq Thompson acknowledged the changes on defense were tough for him to handle personally this offseason, and left unsaid between the lines is that it could be his Thompson’s final year in Carolina. (NFLTR)
