NFLTR Insider: Chase, Stafford, Hill, Salary Cap, Panthers, Jaguars, Smith

Matthew Stafford

  • NFLTR’s Ethan Woodie takes a look at what the Rams’ options could be in the event they move on from QB Matthew Stafford this offseason. (NFLTR)

  • Several teams have reportedly called the Rams about Stafford and the belief is a first-round pick would be their price in exchange for him.  (NFLTR)

  • Even so, Rams HC Sean McVay and other members of the organization want to keep Stafford on their roster. 

Ja'Marr Chase

  • Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase could command at least a $40 million annual contract to become the highest-paid receiver in league history. (NFLTR)

  • Chase could reset the market at wide receiver and become the position's highest-apid player of all time after Vikings WR Justin Jefferson and Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb signed deals last summer worth $35 million a year and $34 million a year respectively.

Tyreek Hill

  • The Dolphins reportedly haven’t guaranteed they won’t trade Tyreek Hill this offseason. (NFLTR)

  • Miami has talked to Hill about the matter and is "open" to bringing him back, but the situation could linger until hearing otherwise. 

Salary Cap

  • The NFL has informed teams to expect the salary cap to be between $277.5 million to $281.5 million per team. (NFLTR)

  •  That's a notable jump from what teams were preparing for back in December, with teams anticipating the cap would come in somewhere between $265 million and $275 million.

Offseason Primers:

Jaguars

  • Trevor Lawrence was tasked with recruiting WR Tee Higgins to Jacksonville should he hit the open market, he admitted that he would love to reunite with him. (NFLTR)

  • The Jaguars are expected to be active on defense in free agency this offseason. (NFLTR)

  • The Jaguars completed an interview with Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham for their GM position. (NFLTR)

  • The Jaguars completed an interview with 49ers director of scouting and football operations Josh Williams for their GM job. (NFLTR)

Buzz:

  • The Buccaneers and WR Chris Godwin have agreed to move the void date of his contract to the final day of the league year on March 12th. (NFLTR)

  • The Chiefs are not expected to use either the franchise tag or the transition tag to retain G Trey Smith. (NFLTR)

  • Adam Schefter tossed out a hypothetical scenario where the Rams could bring in Aaron Rodgers should they trade Matthew Stafford this offseason. (NFLTR)

  • Lions WR Jameson Williams will not face discipline after being found with an unlicensed gun during a traffic stop last year. (NFLTR)
